Trans News Network (TNN) is a worker-run nonprofit LGBTQ+ news organization, as a project of Community Partners, a 501c(3) designated tax-exempt charity. Our reporting focuses on compassionate and fact-driven investigative journalism, analysis, opinion articles, and other reporting.
Founded in July 2025 after from MadyCast News, TNN is one of just a few horizontally-organized newsrooms operating today. Each of our writers has an equal say in all aspects of our operations, including editing and decision-making. We have no concept of an editor-in-chief or CEO.
TNN is also primarily reader-supported. That means we don’t publish ads, take corporate sponsors, or use paywalls to generate revenue. We may take money from charitable grants in the future, given those grants do not impose restrictions on our reporting. Any grants we do receive will be disclosed on our website for transparency.

Trans News Network is dedicated to upholding strong ethics in our reporting, prioritizing the social good of trans communities over all other considerations, such as financial success.
True Independence: No outside corporation, venture capitalist, billionaire, political party, politician, or any other entity has editorial influence on our publication. We are completely independent from outside sway, as evidenced by our pledge to reject all corporate sponsors. We disclose all conflicts of interests relevant to reporting, though those instances are rare.
Ethics: Trans News Network is dedicated to maintaining high standards of ethics and factual reporting. We have a firm policy against the use of “Generative AI” in our work. Correction requests can be sent to [email protected].
Honesty: Nothing but the truth, and the entire truth. Trans News Network won’t hold back on its reporting the truth, no matter who is inconvenienced.
Activism: Unlike traditional mainstream outlets, Trans News Network does not shy away from combining reporting with suggestions for activism. Most articles published here will include a section that helps readers find meaningful actions they can take to fight back against emerging fascist movements and organize their communities.
Exclusive articles: Trans News Network focuses its efforts on articles on publishing exclusive news stories and new perspectives to existing coverage. We might publish fewer articles per month than a standard publication, but every article will be worth your time.
Worker’s Rights: Trans News Network is a worker-operated nonprofit. All of our workers receive industry-leading pay with complete flexibility on work conditions. Each of our workers has an equal say how we’re run. We guarantee a living wage of $28/hour. This flexibility is made possible by generous support from readers and donors.
Transparency: Trans News Network is committed to providing transparency around all parts of the operation. Paid subscribers and donors will receive an annual financial transparency report to show them what their money is spent on, and everyone will always stay informed on any important changes to the publication. You can find the financial filings of our fiscal sponsor Community Partners here.
Fair Trade Practices: No “dark patterns” will be used in solicitations for donations, and donors who forget to cancel a renewal may ask for a refund within 30 days.
For the purposes of this policy, we define "Generative AI" as the use of any large language model, diffusion model, or other similar technology developed since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022 to generate arbitrary text or media content based on a prompt. This includes “agentic workflows,” MCPs, or any other derivative of “Generative AI” technologies used for any purpose.
Trans News Network has a strict policy against the use of any form of “Generative AI” technologies as defined above. This policy applies to all text, images, or other media that we publish on our website, social media, or physical mediums. Unlike some other newsrooms, this policy also prohibits the use of “Generative AI” in any aspects of marketing, social media, or technical features.
While our newsletter platform (Beehiiv) offers a number of “Generative AI” features, we opt-out of using any of these in the course of our work. In other words, all content attributable to Trans News Network is human-generated. In the rare case that we republish AI content as a matter of reporting on AI use by third parties, the content will be clearly labeled as generated by AI by that third party without any endorsement of said content by Trans News Network.
Please note that on some occasions, we may use machine learning algorithms that predate “Generative AI,” such as speech-to-text for assistance with transcribing interviews, OCR for extracting text from images, and other similar use cases. All output from such tools are always verified to be an accurate transcription of the original author by at least one human before publication.
